BA program “”Ethics-Politics-Economics” invites to the Open lecture-discussion with Stefano Zamagni “Contemporary Economic Challenges and Civil Economics”.

Stefano Zamagni is Professor of Economics at the University of Bologna
He graduated from Catholic University in Milan in 1966 and from 1969 to 1973 he spent a research period in Oxford at Linacre College. In 1966 Professor Zamagni became an Assistant Lecturer at the Catholic University, a post he held until 1969. Later, from 1973 to 1979 he was a Professor at the University of Parma.
Since 1979, Professor Zamagni has been a Professor at the University of Bologna. Additional career-related activities in which Professor Zamagni has been involved include serving as a Visiting Professor at the University of Bocconi (Milan) from 1985 to 2007, and as an Adjunct Professor at Johns Hopkins University (Bologna Center) since 1983. He has been Director of the Department of Economics at the University of Bologna from 1985 to 1993. Moreover, he was Dean of the Faculty of Economics from 1993 to 1996, and a Visiting Professor at the State Victoria Bank of Deakin University in Australia.
Professor Zamagni is the author of several books, including Microeconomic Theory and Civil Economy and Paradoxes of Growth, both published in 1997. The Economics of Common Good, 2008, Avarice, 2009. In addition, he co-authored History of Economic Thought,OUP, 1995 and 2005; Living in the Global Society, 1997; Non-Profit As Civil Economy, 1998; and Economics; An European Text, 2002; Multiculturalism and identity, 2002; Relational Complexity and economic behaviour, 2002; The Italian non profit at the crossroad, 2002; Civil Economy, 2007; A civil economic theory of cooperative firm, 2005; Economic Theory and Interpersonal Relations, 2006; Cooperation, 2008; Markets, money and history. As befits a man of this standing, Professor Zamagni was a member of the Executive Committee of International Economy Association (1989-1999) and the Steering Committee of Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences. Since 1991 he is a member of the Pontifical Council on Justice and Peace. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences of Milan, the Academy of Sciences of Bologna and the Academy of Sciences of Modena. Fellow of the New York Academy of Sciences, New York. He was President of ICMC from 1999 to 2007 (an NGO based in Geneva dealing with migrant and refugee issues) and a fellow of “Human Development and Capability Association” (Harvard University). He was appointed (2007) President of the Italian Commission for Non-Profit sector, Milan. Member of the Advisory Board of EURICSE, Trento. He is a member of the scientific committee of various economic journals and reviews.
